LETTERS OF COMMITMENT
-
When someone is on the transplant waiting list, they often do not know exactly when they will receive their life-saving organ. A Letter of Commitment is provided ahead of time and guarantees that MBF will help cover eligible costs when the transplant happens.
This letter also shows a transplant center you have financial support available for certain out-of-pocket costs related to a kidney transplant.
Many transplant centers require this as proof that you can cover expenses not paid by insurance. For some people, this requirement can be a barrier to getting a transplant. MBF created this program to help remove that barrier.
-
You may be eligible if you:
Have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and need a kidney transplant
Are having trouble paying for your basic living expenses
AND either:
Live in Whatcom County, or
Receive care from a Whatcom County dialysis center or kidney specialist
