The Legacy of Mount Baker Kidney Center lives on through the creation of Mount Baker Foundation. We honor the hopes and contributions of MBKC founders, physicians, staff, patients, families, and the community that made the mission of Mount Baker Foundation Possible. We do this by working to improve the lives of individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease, by funding kidney research and dialysis innovation, and by easing individuals’ journey to dialysis or transplantation.
In keeping with our legacy of improving the quality of life for individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease, our gift of $250,000 to the Kidney Research Institute at the University of Washington allowed new, sophisticated microscopy equipment to be purchased. The KRI is working on a “kidney on a chip” to expedite clinical trials for medications and change dialysis in the future.
Our $20,000 grant to Medical Teams International brought 12 months of site visits by their Mobile Dental Operatory units to offer much needed dental services to individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease. Many had not had dental care for two or three decades. Results: better nutrition, new smiles, new dentures, and clean bills of oral health required to qualify for transplant services.
In honor of the legacy of the Mount Baker Kidney Center, Mount Baker Foundation provides support to individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). These funds are provided in the following manner for low income individuals:
Mount Baker Foundation provides scholarships to individuals with CKD who must transform their lives due to their health condition or treatment. Funds may be specifically for tuition or occasionally for living stipends based on need. The Foundation also provides scholarships to healthcare providers who want to increase their education levels and serve the CKD population.
