It has been said that parenting is far more complex than rocket science. Parenting without a home, or in a home with multiple families, is really, really challenging. Stress on the family is stress on the child, which can impact a child’s development and future. Our community needs a viable and sustainable solution for family housing.
Mount Baker Foundation has made a grant of $50,000 to Lydia Place for the protection of families in housing and procuring interim housing for families experiencing homelessness, with an additional pledge for support.
We are interested in working on a collaborative community solution focused on ending family homelessness.
During COVID-19, the number of unsheltered families and individuals grew. To support emergency housing shelter, Mount Baker Foundation provided a grant of $50,000 to the Opportunity Council.
Mount Baker Foundation also provided a grant of $10,000 to the Bellingham Public Schools Foundation for rent assistance for parents of school age children.
We are interested in hearing from local experts, as well as those at the state, national or even global level.
